Graslei, Korenlei & River de Leie | Ghent

Sundays are made for relaxing and getting ready for the week ahead and that’s just what my friend and I did. We decided to do something different for a change. This entailed us sitting outside and along the river de Leie at a nice restaurant with some beverages (I did some writing while my friend did some reading). Korenlei and Graslei are the two sides of the river, both with beautiful buildings and cosy restaurants with spectacular views.

It was so lovely to sit outside and enjoy the good weather with the rest of the locals and tourists. The “good weather” meant sun and wind, but that didn’t stop the people from coming outside. Sitting outside has its advantages, except for the breathtaking view, we got to snuggle up with a blanket. It’s so nice because it makes me feel even more grounded and at home.

The Korenlei & Graslei are must-sees if you are in Ghent. Even if you don’t plan on it you’ll probably end up there anyway. The buildings and architecture is beautiful, especially if you actually stop to observe for a moment (that means putting the camera down and using your real eyes). For all the people who might not see this beautiful part of Ghent, I hope you enjoy the photos! Later in the day we visited an antique market and a church which was just as memorable.
