When I hear someone wants to know more about veganism or wants to try it out, I usually start sending links and information like my life depended on it. People find this overwhelming. So I’ve decided to make this blogpost and share some vegan information that might help you. This blogpost can also be found in the header of my blog next to "About Me", that way you don't have to search
What is a vegan?
A vegan is someone who doesn't consume any land or sea animals. This means no animal products including honey and eggs. There are different reasons to become vegan, like health reason or for the animals. Vegans are like vegetarians only stricter with consuming animal products. What might help is to first become vegetarian and then go vegan if you are having some difficulty with changing your diet.
But being vegan is not just about excluding animal products (meat, dairy, honey, fish, eggs) from your diet (unless you are vegan for health reasons). If you are vegan for the animals then you are going to have to extend your vegan radar a bit more.
- not buying animal clothing like fur coats, leather and snake skin purses
- using cruelty free brands (usually has a bunny on the label)
- not using products (cosmetics) which contain honey or any other animal parts
- not going to aquariums, zoos, circus or any animal show
This might seem extreme, but it really isn't. Excluding these things from your life is nothing compared to what animals go through to entertain and be served as food. I have gathered some information and will share all the links below. It might seem like a lot, but knowledge is power. I’m still learning new things every day. You also don’t have to go into all these links, I just prefer give too much information than not enough. Also, there are different vegan diets the most common being High Carb Low Fat, Starch Based and Raw Till 4. So make sure you do your research to find what works best for you.
