18 August 2016 - The Japanese garden in Hasselt was the main attraction of the visit and it ended up being the only one. It was further out of the city than we thought, but completely worth the walk. It was serene and peaceful. The gardens had various features, like ponds with enormous koi fish, tea house, a traditional Japanese house and of course a lot of nature. Name tags introduced us to the different trees and plants, making the experience even more valuable.
When we were finally done breathing in the Japanese atmosphere and decided to head back to town we got lost, by the time we arrived in the city exhaustion had taken over our bodies and we decided to skip sightseeing. So I can’t really say anything about Hasselt itself, other that the Japanese Gardens are worth the visit, especially if you love anything Japanese related.
It really felt like we were transported to Japan.
